Association of Illegal Motorcyclist Behaviors and Injury Severity in Urban Motorcycle Crashes

Motorcycle crashes have been a significant cause of death and serious injury in urban regions, which has negative effect on the development sustainable transportation. In this study, two logit models, one model for illegal motorcyclist behaviors other crash severity, are developed using motorcycle Hunan Province, China. The models could allow us to simultaneously identify factors related specific severity level crashes. results show that behaviors, including unlicensed riding, drunk improper overtaking/lane changes, more likely injuries or death. Young motorcyclists associated with higher likelihood while old Night conditions without street lights significantly probability as well severity.
